Pros:

- Cheap camera
- Good built quality, really
- Battery charges fast and lasts long
- Lots of configuration options in the menu
- Nice softwares (for Windows)
- Really good resolution!!!
- Outdoor pics becomes very very very beautiful
- Small and compact (still with good res)
- Works very well on Linux

Cons:

- I had some troubles to turn on the camera in the firsts days of usage, but it’s working very well now. Sometimes I still have a similar problem when I intensely use the flash; maybe it’s something related to the battery.
- If you mind on details, there’s a strange but interesting texture in the photos, they look a little like paintings, but I don’t really consider it as a defect, it’s just different to what I’m used to.
- My mother language is Portuguese, so I set the camera to the Portuguese language mode, but it was a hooorible Portuguese, fullfiled of errors and kiddy mistakes, very very poor.

The camera, without its underwater case, is very tiny. I’ve taken 185 pictures, some underwater and some regular, and only about 15 were disappointing. Pictures will be blurry if the camera is not held still. Since it was inexpensive I did not expect it to be as good as my regular digital camera, so I’m ok with the proportion of good pictures.
The underwater casing is nice and sturdy. I don’t know how it is different than the more expensive models which are sold separately for other cameras. I snorkeled for several hours on three different occasions and the casing did not leak. It is easy to get the camera into and out of the case. The buttons all functioned nicely.
Pros
-Housing is the best thing about it – great quality, very well-made and easy to use, no hint of leakage during multiple uses.
-Camera floats while in housing
-Under ideal conditions (Sunny Weather, clear water, used near the surface) the image results can be superb for such a cheap camera
-Considering most of the cost is probably in the housing, it does better than expected as a general purpose cheap land camera

Cons
- Flash is useless in housing. Need expensive off-camera flash for good results in less than ideal conditions (without direct sunlight, or at any significant depth)
- Shutter delay is substantial and can be tricky to use – you have to lead moving subjects a little which takes practice

Sony MPK-WD Marine Pack

List Price: $199.99 USD

Waterproof housing for DSC-W150,W170 and W300 Cyber-shot digital still cameras.

Technical Details

* Compatible with DSC-W150,W170 and W300
* Up to 132 feet deep
* Basic camera functions available while in use
* LCD hood and hand strap included
* Waterproof housing for selected W series cameras

Pros:

The case is well built, and I have every confidence in its ability to protect my camera even down to 40 meters (the max rating of the housing). It has a nice firm, solid feel to the latch, easy to change o-ring (comes with a tube of o-ring grease and a spare o-ring). It has a diffuser for the flash (so that it isn’t obscurred as one reviewer lamented). The buttons are easy to press and give access to all of the camera’s normal features. It fits like a glove because it was purpose built for the camera. I couldn’t be happier with it.

This case does it’s job. It keeps the water out. Took it to 50′ on my first dive, for almost an hour and a half, and no issues.

Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP Waterproof Digital Camera

List Price: Price Not Listed
New From: Check Amazon For Pricing In Stock
Used from: $122.00 In Stock

The FinePix Z33WP is Fujifilm’s first waterproof digital camera. No longer do you need to worry about damaging your camera in less than optimum shooting conditions. The FinePix Z33WP ensures you’ll never miss capturing any of life’s precious moments, any where, any time, under any conditions, and be able to share them easily with your extended network of friends and family members.

The 10-megapixel FinePix Z33WP is ready for any adventure including underwater activity up to 10 feet. The Z33WP uses a Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens, has Fujifilm’s ‘Automatic Scene Recognition’ SR AUTO mode, and features a 2.7-inch, 230,000 pixel resolution LCD screen.

Product Features

  • 10.0-megapixel resolution for large, photo quality prints
  • Waterproof up to 10 feet
  • 3x optical zoom; 2.7-inch LCD screen with Micro Thumbnail View
  • Blog Mode with 12 editing functions
  • 50 MB built-in memory; capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included)

Handy features:

  • Face Detection Technology: Operating in tandem with automatic red-eye removal, the FinePix Z33WP identifies up to 10 human faces in a scene, and sets the correct focus and exposure, regardless of where subjects are located within the frame.
  • Automatic Red Eye Removal accents the aforementioned features by lending an extra touch to that group shot. The Z33WP automatically checks for red eye and self-corrects it in each and every person in the photo, saving time on post-editing.
  • Couple and Group Timer Modes: Working in conjunction with Face Detection technology, detects two faces in ‘Couple Timer Mode’ and up to four faces in ‘Group Timer Mode’ in a frame.
  • One Touch MOVIE Button: Capture VGA quality movie clips at 30 frames per second with sound to capture all of those once-in-a-lifetime moments.
  • Battery Life: The long-life rechargeable Li-ion battery (up to 200 shots) allows for extended use without worrying if the camera is going to last for the duration of the trip.
Pros:
  • The function buttons are tops – easy to find and press.
  • With tapered edges, the camera goes in my pocket easily.
  • Movie audio surprizingly good.
  • Multiple digital pixel settings – as low as 100 KB for photos at the lowest setting – I e-mail my dad photos, he has dial-up so short attachments are critical.
  • Photo quality color and resolution is good, including macro.
  • LCD display is good, even in strong sunlight
  • Menu choices are fairly intuitive.
  • Battery life seems good so far.
  • SD card – not that many waterproof cameras allow the use of the common SD card.

Cons:

  • Indoor shots are have noise.
  • No hardcopy, comprehensive manual, just an unbound, brief multifolded paper. The comprehensive manual is on a CD. Then again, if you are around water, FUJI may figure youaren’t going to take a paper manual with you.
  • Propriety USB cable for downloads – yet another cable to keep seperate from a dozen other propriety cables me and my family has.
